In a recent Contra Costa Times Reader Forum, Ken Hambrick set out logical argument against socialized medicine.
Quality and timely health care isn’t possible because it is too costly and unaffordable. Rationed health care is the best you can hope for.
Many people will lose the health care they have today and their health care will deteriorate. Government-run programs are very ineffective and inefficient (just look at the DMV).
Why should a woman have to wait months for an MRI when it’s possible she might have breast cancer? That’s what happens in the United Kingdom where the mortality rate for breast cancer is 40 percent higher than in the U.S. The difference is better and timelier care in the U.S.Just to the north of us in Canada, things are just as bad. After waiting an extensive time to see a specialist, the waiting list for gynolgical surgery is 12 weeks, to get a cataract removed, 12-18 weeks, to get your tonsils out and a wait for neurosurgery can be as long as 30 weeks. How’s that for rationed health care?
